- WebMapper
- =========
-
- Brief instructions
- ------------------
-
-
- WebMapper is an image map editor for RISC OS. It creates both client
- side and server side (NCSA and CERN) maps.
-
- Once installed on the icon bar, JPEGs, GIFs PNGs and sprites can be
- loaded into WebMapper. Along with the image window a toolbox is opened.
- This gives brief information on the image as well as the following
- tools, from left to right:
-
- Client tool: sets client side maps to be saved.
- Server tool: sets server side maps to be saved.
- Save tool: opens the RISC OS save box.
- Dustbin tool: deletes the currently selected shape.
- Zoom tool: zooms the image up (Select) or down (Adjust).
- Select tool: puts WebMapper into Select mode.
- Square tool: puts WebMapper into Square mode.
- Circle tool: puts WebMapper into Circle mode.
- Polygon tool: puts WebMapper into Polygon mode.
-
- The toolbox can also be operated with the function keys F1-F9.
-
- When in Square, Circle or Polygon modes, the appropriate shape can be
- drawn on the image by clicking at the start point and clicking again
- at the required end point (in the case of polygons repeating the
- process until all points have been plotted, whereupon a click with
- Adjust will close the shape). Pressing Escape or clicking outside the
- image window while drawing will abort the shape being drawn.
-
- Once a shape is completed, a dialogue box will appear giving details
- of the shape and enabling the user to input the URL which will be
- associated with that shape in the image map.
-
- In Select mode, any shape can be selected, moved around with the
- mouse, or deleted. Future versions of WebMapper will allow the
- selected shape to be edited.
-
- The default URL can be chosen from a menu option on the main menu.
-
- Client side maps are saved as a section of HTML code. The save box
- includes an icon into which the map name can be entered.
-
- Server side maps are saved as a data file. Either NCSA or CERN format
- maps can be saved, and the default format can be selected by choosing
- the Choices option from the icon bar menu.
