  8. WebMapper is an image map editor for RISC OS. It creates both client
  9. side and server side (NCSA and CERN) maps.
  10.  
  11. Once installed on the icon bar, JPEGs, GIFs PNGs and sprites can be
  12. loaded into WebMapper. Along with the image window a toolbox is opened.
  13. This gives brief information on the image as well as the following
  14. tools, from left to right:
  15.   
  16.   Client tool: sets client side maps to be saved.
  17.   Server tool: sets server side maps to be saved.
  18.   Save tool:   opens the RISC OS save box.
  19.   Dustbin tool: deletes the currently selected shape.
  20.   Zoom tool:    zooms the image up (Select) or down (Adjust).
  21.   Select tool:  puts WebMapper into Select mode.
  22.   Square tool:  puts WebMapper into Square mode.
  23.   Circle tool:  puts WebMapper into Circle mode.
  24.   Polygon tool:  puts WebMapper into Polygon mode.

  26. The toolbox can also be operated with the function keys F1-F9.

  28. When in Square, Circle or Polygon modes, the appropriate shape can be
  29. drawn on the image by clicking at the start point and clicking again
  30. at the required end point (in the case of polygons repeating the
  31. process until all points have been plotted, whereupon a click with
  32. Adjust will close the shape). Pressing Escape or clicking outside the
  33. image window while drawing will abort the shape being drawn.

  35. Once a shape is completed, a dialogue box will appear giving details
  36. of the shape and enabling the user to input the URL which will be
  37. associated with that shape in the image map.

  39. In Select mode, any shape can be selected, moved around with the
  40. mouse, or deleted. Future versions of WebMapper will allow the
  41. selected shape to be edited.

  43. The default URL can be chosen from a menu option on the main menu.

  45. Client side maps are saved as a section of HTML code. The save box
  46. includes an icon into which the map name can be entered.
  47.  
  48. Server side maps are saved as a data file. Either NCSA or CERN format
  49. maps can be saved, and the default format can be selected by choosing
  50. the Choices option from the icon bar menu.
